Food-industry ‘pulse’ theme for convention

The 49th annual Australian Institute of Food Science and Technology Convention is to be held at the Brisbane Convention & Exhibition Centre on June 27 and 28.

The event will gather experts behind the food that consumers buy and will include presentations from producers, nutrition and sensory scientists, leading SMEs, trend analysts and policy makers.

In line with the United Nations International Year of Pulses, the 2016 convention’s theme is ‘The Pulse of the Industry’, showcasing the latest innovations, trends and insights impacting on the Australian food industry.

The convention will also feature discussion of emerging research in food science and technology, including food safety and microbiology, and food processing and engineering.

Speakers announced so far include futurist and IBISWorld founder and director Phil Ruthven, Functional Grains Centre Director Chris Blanchard and a ‘CEOs in Conversation’ panel addressing the challenges and opportunities for Australia’s food and beverage sector.

More information on additional speakers will be released closer to the event.
