Customers with the Uber Eats app can now order ready-to-eat and ready-to-heat meals from Coles, Uber has announced.
Beginning this week, the offer will – for now – apply only to customers ordering from the Coles in Sydney’s Pagewood suburb.
It will be available from 10am until 8pm, with a delivery fee of $5 per order. The food will be delivered to customers’ doors via the Uber Eats app.
In a statement on its website, Uber said: “It’s our mission to bring the widest selection of food to fit the busy lives of our customers. This means working with partners that have an existing footprint and are local favourites.
“We’re buzzing that our next evolution of Uber Eats is experimenting with meal delivery with Coles.”
‘Extremely excited’
Regional General Manager for Uber Eats in Australia and New Zealand Jodie Auster said: “Making food delivery more affordable and convenient for everyday meals are top strategic priorities for us.
“We’re extremely excited to work with Coles on this innovative partnership with a leading grocery brand.
“We believe this trial will complement the current Coles Online offering by delivering meals in an average of less than 30 minutes. They can be tracked in the Uber Eats app from the time of order to drop-off.
“We’re looking to expand and test both the menu and type of food available through the app over the coming weeks.”
Using the app, Uber says customers will be able to order a range of Coles ready-to-eat meals. These will include roast chicken, deli salads, bakery items and frozen desserts. Ready-to-heat meal options include pizzas, curries and pies. Customers will also be able to choose from a selection of ‘Grab and Go’ options and beverages.
An Australian first
“We’re thrilled to offer our ready-to-eat and ready-to-heat range for delivery for the first time in Australia via the Uber Eats app,” Coles Director of Fresh Food Alex Freudmann said.
“Coles will be the first supermarket to partner with Uber Eats in Australia, giving our customers healthy choices at competitive prices delivered right to their door.”
